Legal
Privacy policy
Last updated 3 October 2026
This policy describes how Tagviu (https://tagviu.com) handles personal data. Tagviu is a hosted metadata debugger. This is a plain-language policy for the product and related docs, not legal advice.
Who we are
Tagviu is a hosted service. This policy applies to the web app, the documentation site, the inspect API, hosted MCP, and CLI/Dev Mode features that talk to our servers.
What the product does
You (or an agent) submit a URL. We fetch that public page, extract metadata, score it, and show simulated social previews. Dev Mode lets your machine send localhost HTML to your account for a short-lived preview. You can save shareable reports and sign in to manage organizations and developer environments.
Information we collect
- Account. Email, name, and profile image when you register with email and password or with Google or GitHub. We also store a public identifier for CLI pairing.
- Google sign-in. If you use Google, Google shares the account identifiers you approve (typically email, name, and profile photo). We use that only to create or sign in to your Tagviu account. We do not use Google data for ads.
- Organizations. Organization name, slug, members, and invitations you send.
- Inspections and reports. URLs you inspect, and saved report snapshots you choose to keep. Public inspect can be used without an account; we still process the URL you submit in order to return results.
- Dev Mode. HTML and related assets you upload from your machine for ephemeral local previews, tied to your account and environment.
- Developer environments. Environment names and secrets used to authenticate the CLI and local MCP. Treat those secrets like passwords.
- Session cookies. We use cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
How we use information
To run Tagviu: authenticate you, show inspections and reports, enforce organization membership, operate Dev Mode and the CLI, prevent abuse, and improve the product. We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with third parties for their marketing.
Processors
Hosting and data storage are provided by infrastructure vendors (for example Vercel for the app and MongoDB for persistence). Google and GitHub process sign-in if you choose those providers. They see only what those services require for OAuth or hosting.
Retention
Account and organization data last until you delete them or we close the service. Saved reports remain until you delete them. Dev Mode local previews expire after a short window (about one hour). Session cookies last until they expire or you sign out.
Your choices
You can sign out at any time. You can stop using Google sign-in from your Google account permissions. To correct or delete account data, email tagviudev@gmail.com or open an issue on GitHub. If you inspect URLs you do not control, you are responsible for having a legitimate reason to fetch them.
Children
Tagviu is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this page. The date at the top is the latest revision. Continued use of the hosted service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
